Garth is ALWAYS amazing - logistics were NOT
As a lifelong fan of The Del McCoury Band, this is my 4th experience. He NEVER disappoints! Singing "Callin' Baton Rouge" in Tiger Stadium as an LSU Tiger will be a highlight I never forget.
The Del McCoury Band's local team or the LSU athletic department, I don't know, had more say in traffic flow, parking, and general help in processing people. But getting to the concert, and out of it, was possibly the worst and longest experience I've ever had. We stayed 15 minutes from the stadium for easy access. It took us 1 1/2 hours to park. There was zero parking help in a prepaid lot. They wave you through, and then you're on your own. Further, the Gates that our tickets said were open for entry were closed, further delaying getting to our seats. I don't think I've ever had a concert delay starting time because so many people couldn't get in on time. It was delayed an hour.
Exiting was even worse. We had no clue which way we could go. The streets that were blocked off for contraflow were evidently acting as if the city needed to evacuate for a hurricane because it all directed us to the interstate. Every side street with a restaurant was blocked. I had a hotdog at the concert, and couldn't even get dinner afterwards because access was blocked. We arrived at our AirBNB 2 hours after leaving the concert.. it's 15-minute drive. Just doesn't make sense why traffic was blocked that far out.
The Del McCoury Band was AMAZING, again. The concert itself will last in my mind forever. The logistics were horrible though.
